Sometimes I wonder if I hit that fourth dimensional gas pedal, with 1.21 gigawatts, and zoomed into 2035 would I skid to a smoky stop in front of a spectacular bricks and mortar “Gallery X”, The Existential Art Gallery of Scarborough. It is of course one of my dreams.
To reach that lengthy goal we really do need a lot of dreamers. People who share the vision. It is likely that there are a lot of similar dreamers, people who think its possible, and can visualize the reality of such a thing, even though it’s presently a mirage on the time horizon. Time flies.
In “Back to The Future” Marty and Doc pondered the conundrums of changing the future by altering the past. Marty McFly had to ensure that he didn’t change the past during his time-travel for fear he would not exist in the future. And Doc Brown had to believe in himself to realize he had invented his DeLorean time travel machine in the future, before he had actually done it! ‘Whoa. This is heavy”.
So here we are in dream land, all of us working together to secure a future of which we are certain. We are all the emerging past, in a constant state of building the future. One day we will certainly have attained our goal of a substantial art gallery for Scarborough. But wait! If we stop what we are doing to achieve that it certainly won’t happen in the future!
Conundrums are difficult to comprehend, and this one has been a personal challenge for all of us involved. If we keep doing what we are doing it will happen for sure, but if we stop now, we will change the future and it won’t actually happen. Of course in terms of defining time Doc and Marty gave it this future measuring device, “If you put you mind to it you can accomplish anything”, and Doc had it summed up for those who couldn’t foresee it this way, “I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet…But your kids are gonna love it!”
Yes, this one’s for the dreamers, and we should all meet on November 12 under the clock tower at 10:04 pm and take that flux capacitor 1.21 gigawatts flight to 2035. What do ya wanna bet there will be a magnificent art gallery for Scarborough?
