Privacy Policy with a Limited Canadian Scope

The Gallery X Scarborough site (the “Site”) is owned and operated by The Existential Art Gallery of Scarborough, Inc. We are a Canadian company registered in Ontario as a not-for-profit art gallery. This privacy policy may not cover obligations in jurisdictions outside of Canada where citizens have other rights; it is intended to apply to activities that fall under the jurisdiction of our provincial and federal privacy laws. Therefore, this privacy policy has limited scope. We endeavour, above all, to be fair and just.

Information We Collect from You

Information is automatically collected about the web browser, search engine, search terms, and links that bring you to our Site; information about your device or computer (“device”), IP address, time zone, and cookies that are already on your device are collected as well. Our Site monitors the pages that you have seen and how you interact with those pages, including subscribing and donating. This data is called “Device Information.”

– We collect information from you, including your name, email address, and sometimes your address. We refer to this data as “Donation Information.” Your financial information is private and only shared between financial institutions to allow for the secure transfer of funds.

Other Websites and Their Content

Our Site may include embedded content from other sites, like YouTube, blogs, articles, and images or have links to other sites, like Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, and Twitter. When you go to those other sites, they also collect automatic device information and may exchange cookies as well.

Purpose of Collecting Personal Information

Device information is used by the Site to help us gather data for analytics that will, in turn, allow us to better optimize our Site. This will ensure that improvements are made in a timely fashion, administrative functions run smoothly, and to customize the Site to so your experience is more engaging. Collecting IP addresses helps our analytics protect us against potential incidents of fraud.

The information about you is collected to provide you with information about art news, upcoming shows, planned workshops, educational opportunities, or other essential communications. We cannot access any of your banking information.

Sharing Information

We may share your information with limited members of our organization who reasonably need access to user data to achieve the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. These include analytics to help us understand how the Site is used, to maintain our mailing list, as well as to send important information directly to you through our secure partner, Constant Contact. You can reach out at any time if you would like to be removed from our mailing list. If there is a need, and if there is legal merit, your information may be shared to comply with laws and regulations, or to otherwise protect your rights and ours.

Protecting Your Information

We take all reasonable steps to protect your device and personal information. Data is treated securely and in accordance with accepted security standards. User data will be maintained until the purpose for its collection has been achieved. Unfortunately security on the Internet cannot be guaranteed and regardless of reasonable precautions, with any transmission, there is a risk of harm. By using our Site users agree that they consent to the conditions set out in this Privacy Policy.

Protecting Your Children

It is not our intention to collect or use data from any child or youth under sixteen years of age. If we learn personal data has been collected from such a person, the data will be deleted. Parents are encouraged to contact us for this purpose.

Policy Updates

This Privacy Policy may be amended from time to time in order to address errors or omissions and to maintain compliance with the law. When changes are made, they will be reflected in the Effective Date at the top of the Privacy Policy. We recommend that our users periodically review our Privacy Policy to ensure they are notified of any updates.
