Our team is very determined in its aims to establish a substantial art gallery for Scarborough. Scarborough has a very large population without a large gallery space to display the work of Scarborough artists, and artworks from national and international exhibitions. We can do a lot better! We welcome you to be a member of our volunteer team.
Becoming a member costs nothing, but it does show support for our aim to have a gallery and also allows us to send you a newsletter from time to time. To become a member please “subscribe” to the newsletter. Its important! Thank you.

The Existential Art Gallery of Scarborough
more endearingly known as "Gallery X" is presently a virtual art gallery - presenting both Canadian and international virtual art exhibitions. Everybody is welcome to attend exhibitions at our website.
We encourage you to get involved
Subscribing to our newsletter will give occasional information about the gallery and its program developments but you may wish to write an email to us so that we can contact you directly about volunteering or more formal participation. We are always interested in talking to anyone who wished to get more involved with out gallery development.
Volunteers are very precious to the development of this gallery. We will do our best to find ways that you can make a contribution be it big or small, long or short, or one specific item that is of interest to you personally. We can work it out together.
Time commitment from a volunteer is a matter of personal choice. Some folks have unlimited time because of their particular circumstance, but most people have very limited amounts of time for volunteer work. Our mantra so far has been “Do what you can”. Every little bit of volunteering helps as we move the organization forward in a positive fashion. Thank you for giving volunteering with Gallery X some consideration.
Although we are more than glad to receive donations the gallery does not charge a membership fee and has no plans to do so at the present time. The gallery is most interested in building a membership which has a genuine interest in establishing a more substantial gallery for Scarborough than we presently have. If you subscribe to our newsletter you will be counted as a new member and there will be no fees.
Although the pandemic created problems for bricks and mortar exhibitions the gallery has established a program of virtual exhibitions. We have also begun educational visits to school with talks at public schools about Canadian Art history and contemporary Canadian artworks.
The Board of The Existential Gallery of Scarborough has many dreams about gallery programming but it takes many volunteers to develop the individual pieces. It also takes considerable time to do so. The Gallery has already participated in exhibitions that have both a bricks and mortar and a virtual existence. We have already featured Scarborough artists in two exhibitions and also international Canadian artists in two exhibitions, and we will be continuing our pursuit of these venues. As pandemic issues subside we will be doing our best to participate in public exhibition space that can be made available for that kind of experience. Education is an important part of our planning for the future.
