About the Helson Gallery
The Helson Gallery is the Town of Halton Hills’ premier public art gallery and home to the culturally significant Helson Collection of Canadian and European paintings.
The Helson Gallery was initially a Congregational Church constructed in 1854. The conversion of the church/library to a gallery enabled the restoration of the original plaster vaulted ceiling and the retention of the colourful stained glass windows, creating an atmosphere of elegance and tranquillity.
Halton Hills is located about 55km north-west of Toronto, Ontario. It is a famous area notable for many locations where Canada’s famous Group of Seven painted. (Famous Canadian landscape painters during the 1920s)
La galerie Helson est la première galerie d’art publique de la ville de Halton Hills et abrite la collection Helson de peintures canadiennes et européennes, d’importance culturelle.
La Helson Gallery était à l’origine une église congrégationaliste construite en 1854. La conversion de l’église/bibliothèque en galerie a permis la restauration du plafond voûté en plâtre d’origine et le maintien des vitraux colorés, créant une atmosphère d’élégance et de tranquillité.
Halton Hills est situé à environ 55 km au nord-ouest de Toronto, en Ontario. C’est une région célèbre remarquable pour de nombreux endroits où le célèbre Groupe des Sept du Canada a peint. (Célèbres peintres paysagistes canadiens dans les années 1920)
