Clark Centre for the Arts

Nestled at the edge of the forest within a stone’s throw of the beautiful Guild Inn Estate’s main building is a tiny gem – the new Clark Centre for the Arts. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and happy to direct you to look into the well-equipped studios and the free art displays in the atrium. 

Art and Craft Classes

Arts and craft classes and workshops of interest to children, youth, and adults (including those with mobility issues) are set up to run on single days or over the course of multiple weeks. Registration takes place four times a year, and the brochure with their extensive lineup of programs is available at the front desk as well as online. There is something for everyone to enjoy regardless of the level, including: drawing, painting, mixed media (still life, portraiture, water, reflections, perspective, plein air), fibre arts (sewing, quilting, weaving), printmaking (press, monotype, screen, relief), paper marbling text-based art, bookbinding, card making, and photography. The fees are based on the length and type of course, and there are nominal costs for materials.

Artist in Residence

The artist in residence program takes applications in late summer for the coming year. In 2022, the artist is Thomas Brasch.

Local Artists and Groups on Display in Gallery 191

The North-facing atrium is the perfect location for the Wild Bees created by Charmaine Lurch, on display until the end of December 2022. 

On the walls until the end of the year is a selection of creative photography. The Eclectic Eye by the Beach Photo Club will be on display until the end of November 2022 which will be followed by the Akin winter Exhibition and Art Market.
