Her artistic journey began in her youth, fueled by a deep-rooted passion for creativity and a profound connection to nature, landscapes, and water.
“My paintings are not always a realistic representation, but an impressionistic reflection of my feelings for nature and the environment—the contours, moods, and colours.”
In 1973, Rayne attended the Banff School of Fine Art, studying under Tony Urquhart, who recommended her for a scholarship. She then continued her studies at Toronto’s “Three Schools of Art” (later known as the “New School of Art”), where she learned under notable artists including Robert Markle, Dennis Burton, Gordon Rayner, Nobuo Kubota, and Graham Coughtry.
In 1974, Rayne was accepted into the Ontario College of Art with a bursary and ‘Advanced Standing’ based on a recommendation from Franklin Arbuckle. She studied under respected instructors such as David Chavel, Ross Mendes, Graham Coughtry, and Gus Wiseman, graduating with honours in 1977.
Rayne is represented by the John A. Libby Fine Art Gallery in Toronto, Ontario.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including: Switzerland: Galerie Crameri, Chur, Germany: Wolf & Galentz Gallery, Berlin, France: Château de Grouchy, Paris; Le Cloître, Avignon, Mexico: Museo Nacional de la Acuarela, Canada: Helson Gallery (Halton Hills), Art Gallery of Burlington, Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery & Santa Fe Gallery (Owen Sound), Durham Art Gallery (Durham), Penticton Art Gallery (BC), John B.
