Interim President

Brief info

Peter Marsh is the interim president of The Existential Art Gallery of Scarborough Inc. (2018-2022). As an artist he is a long standing elected member of our major national and provincial art societies and a ‘Life Member’ of The Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (president from 2009-2011), also having been the recipient of The Griffith Award for his long standing service to The Society. Peter was the inaugural Art Director of “Wexford Collegiate School For The Arts” at its inception in 1972 and retired from that position in 1998. During the school's 50th Anniversary Celebrations “The Peter Marsh Gallery” was inaugurated by the school. Peter has served on many boards and was a Seguin Township Municipal Councillor from 1988-2000. Peter was president of the Seguin Township Arts Council from 1990-2000. His paintings have received awards and have been shown in numerous, local, provincial, national, and international exhibitions. He has acted as a national and local juror for exhibitions. Locally Peter served as a vice president of The Scarborough Arts Council 1983-86 and was awarded the municipal Visual Arts Award in 1986. In 2020, during the pandemic, he exhibited “One Painting a Day” for a 100 days, on his driveway. The exhibition was enthusiastically attended daily, by neighbours, bus drivers, UPS and Purolator drivers, the ice cream truck, children, and postmen, demonstrating the thirst for a substantial gallery for Scarborough's citizens.
