This is the only “Arthur Award” that Joy ever received from the Art Guild, of which she was extremely proud. Apparently there were three jurors one of whom was Fred Savard, the former head of the art department at Danforth Technical School and a renowned Scarborough painter himself. “Victorian Lady” was the title of the painting and with all the frills and lace one can understand that title, but there is no name to the sitter. Note the delicately rendered visage to match the dress and the gentle colouring throughout.
