There is not much information on this painting other than to say the painting was a commission for a friend. It is a record rather than a highly detailed photograph and as such it becomes part of the archival record that Joy painted this piece, and people may need to know that in the future.
I wonder what the cat’s name was? Far more likely to be called “Ginger” I suppose but more likely something having meaning to the owner, a person we don’t know either.
