Joy was of the opinion that your memory can become so full of stuff that it is more or less overloaded, an opinion of many who cannot remember stuff until they are prompted with something that brings a memory to mind. This painting was done in the 70’s and is owned by Sandy fox. That is an unusual line in these comments as we usually don’t know the owner or the date it was painted. While Joy couldn’t remember this piece she recognised it immediately when she saw it. In 2023 this painting would be around 50 years old, and an early piece in Joy’s experience. The colour maturity of later works is somewhat latent, but one can see the confidence that will later flourish.
