This portrait presents Babs Currie’s granddaughter, the erstwhile rider of this beautiful horse. Probably a historic piece by now with all the formal trappings of a confident equestrian, and a family heirloom piece. Once again an iconic and unique piece as I don’t remember another with an equestrian theme or even a horse, but Joy did love animals and one can see the great care that has been taken in the rendering.. Compositionally the two white splashes give the composition a strong brilliance in comparison to others with softer tones, and maybe they expressed the strong equality between horse and rider. There are very few accidents in a well thought out portrait composition.
