Celebration of Joy: Assemblages Portraits Animal's portraits Assemblages

Joy’s assemblages

‘Assemblages’ is a descriptive word we have chosen for the fun collages of objects that joy enjoyed creating for every occasion. We have a goodly number of them here for you and perhaps we can all note the jovial and light-hearted approaches taken to come up with a three-dimensional conglomerate of otherwise meaningless collected objects. Joy was proud of her collection of treasures she might use for her creations, like old frames, beads, sticks, tiny figures, buttons, masks and papier-mâché bits and pieces. The pieces were made just for the fun of it, or perhaps as centre-pieces for social functions, or as gifts for treasured friends, and so on. A number of them are collected here as recognition of Joy’s broad artistic expression and good fun personality.

There are many photographs in this exhibition and it should be noted that close to all of them were recorded by Joy on her Facebook page. They were accompanied by equally interesting writings which we have used liberally in the comments of this exhibition.
